Tucson Supplies Teachers

5th annual Tucson Supplies Teachers becomes community wide effort

Tucson Supplies Teachers 2013 will kick off on July 28th with five brand new business partners, and having already raised $110,000 towards basic classroom supplies for all district, charter and private schools across Southern Arizona. In an effort towards truly eliminating teacher funded classrooms, Tucson Values Teachers, Walgreens, and Community Finance Corporation, partners in the past five years of the supply drive, are joining forces with Jim Click Automotive, Tucson Association of REALTORS®, KVOA News4, McDonald’s, Pima Federal Credit Union, and Peter Piper Pizza to create a single, community-wide supply drive.

Over the past 4 years, TVT, together with Walgreens and Community Finance Corporation, has delivered over $300,000 to local schools in support of teachers, students, and classrooms. With the addition of these new business partners, Tucson Supplies Teachers has the capability of doubling the $104,000 that it raised in 2012.

“TVT is thrilled to team up with the Tucson Association of REALTORS®, and all our other partners to make this year’s supply drive bigger and better than ever,” said Jacquelyn Jackson, executive director of TVT. “In launching the fund and supply drive on the same day, we are offering the public a range of ways to support our teachers.  With these partners and with Mr. Click’s inspiration, we can hit the $500,000 mark.”

The REALTORS®, which have sponsored a separate supply drive for the last seven years, pointed out that joining forces with TVT will mean even more

 supplies for area classrooms.

“Teachers truly are our partners in the economic health of our region,” said Philip Tedesco, RCE, CAE chief executive officer of the Tucson Association of REALTORS®. “As realtors, we understand quality schools are essential if we want to attract and keep people in our region. By joining forces, the business community is making a strong statement to our teachers that they are our partners in economic growth, and we deeply value all they do.”
