Toast to Teachers!
Join TVT, Mayor Bob Walkup, 92.9 The Mountain's Jennie Grabel and Chris Patyk, and George Hanson, Tucson Symphony Orchestra Music Director and Conductor for our region-wide Toast to Teachers! Teachers, families, friends and supporters are all invited.
May 7, 2010, is the final day of National Teacher Appreciation Week, and the Toast to Teachers is the perfect way to celebrate all of our K-12 teachers. Toole Avenue will be closed off between Maynards and Hotel Congress. There will be a special Teacher Tribute Wall around Hotel Congress where you can post a message or place a momento in honor of your favorite teacher.
The event is family-friendly! We will have an apple juice toast to teachers, and free cupcakes. We also have food vendors participating, and all of the great food at Maynards and Hotel Congress will be available as well. And entertainment: from high school marching bands to mariachis and a DJ - music will be intergral to the celebration.
If you are a teacher, click here to print a free parking pass (Adobe PDF file). Parking will be free for teachers at the Pennington Street Garage. And there is plenty of parking available for everyone at surrounding garages.
Immediately following the Toast, the Tucson Symphony Orchestra is offering a free "Celebrate the Future" concert that begins at 8 PM at the Concert Hall. Do not miss this very special presentation! For more information:
This will be a night to remember! We want our entire community and all 10,000 teachers to show up! Come out and let all teachers know how much we value all that they do.
