Tucson Values Teachers presented the December Teacher Excellence Award on Monday, December 16, 2019 to Maria Vigo, a world languages teacher at Cholla High School.
Vigo has been teaching for more than 27 years and is currently the world languages department head at Cholla. She was nominated by Silvia Leal, a former colleague who currently teaches at University High School.
In her nominating statement, Leal said that Vigo “has an excellent connection with her students and is a skilled facilitator that guides them into real life with care, compromise and affection.
“She relates very well with everyone due to her efficiency, sense of humor and generosity.”
